PDA: XXPJY + Modem: UGJL2 + CSC: KENMOD??

Figured out how to manipulate the CSC stuff.. very interesting :P  Now I have a CSC free phone with any app I want from Samsung Apps :)

XXJPY (Darky's 7.0) + UGJL2 Modem + BMCJL2 CSC (Without Apps, for Samsung Social Hub!)

This is my new setup for my phone!

Darky's Rom is from here...

First, we start from any ROM with clockworkmod or recovery 2e...

Next we do the update.zip method and install Darky's Rom...

Now we get the UGJL2 ROM and modify it a bit...

First we unzip the file, and get the .tar file.

Make a copy of the tar file, and call the new one MODEM-I9000UGJL2.tar

Open up MODEM-I9000UGJL2.tar using 7zip, and remove everything EXCEPT modem.bin.

Now we use Odin and flash this file under Phone (No Repartition)

We should have our 850 back if we lost it due to the XXJPY modem...

Next, we open up our full I9000UGJL2 tar file and extract the cache.rfs from it.

Then we open up cache.rfs with 7zip !!

Now we grab the /system/csc/BMC folder from this file, and extract it..

Next, we push this to our sdcard... (adb shell, cd sdcard, mkdir BMC, adb push C:\GT-I9000\BMC\ /sdcard/BMC/)

I removed apps from it since I don't want Bell junkware... (adb shell, cd /sdcard/BMC/system, rm -R app)

Now we need root, and copy the csc folder to system/csc.. (adb shell, su, cp -R /sdcard/BMC/ /system/csc/)

Next, we make sure that /system/csc has the BMC folder, and inside that is another system folder...

(Do a nandroid backup now if you want to save your apps...)

Then we use the *#272*<IMEI>#*, and pick BMC from our list... it'll factory reset the phone, but we'll have BMC as our CSC code, so Samsung Apps will give us Canadian Software!

(Do an advanced nandroid restore... restoring only data... that'll give you back all your apps!)

(Now would be a good time to make sure Voodoo lagfix is on too, if you want it!)

XXJPU

Wow.. It's truly much faster..

Anyhow, there is apparently a problem only with the Chinese version of the Firmware and Fring -- no audio input on calls in the new versions...

No need for market fix at all...

New wallpaper options...

Using this with the JK4 Modem and no CSC... and rooted with CF-Root so I can use CWM Recovery...

Side note:  I hope the Android 2.3 sources come out soon!  Want to try and make my phone run 2.3!

Corruption: /data/data?

Most of the time a corruption happens, logcat shows unable to write to /data/data.. maybe that'll help me next time it happens.

Internal SD?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845708

Following those instructions...

echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/s3c-usbgadget/gadget/lun1/file

is an awesome command. However, it really doesn't help if the partition tables are missing, or if I can't even read it with fdisk, or even gdisk...

Oh well, good thing for Product Exchange Plans :P

More Corruption

Wonder when it will stop corrupting itself...

Random corruption?

Was on ZWJP6... and SpeedMod Kernel...

Today, it crashed....

Checked logcat.. it couldn't write to /data/data?

Factory reset, still doesn't work.

Flashed CM6, somehow fixed it

Flashed nandroid of ZSJPD/UGJK3/BMCJK3... tried some more random kernels... then went back to stock kernel with recovery 3e.  I'll prolly stick with this till after my exams, unless Cyanogen releases some good fixes.

After exams I might play with modding/compiling CM6....

ZWJP6

Apparently this is the Taiwan version of the ROM... So flashed this one instead of the ZSJPD.  Runs pretty smooth, protected apps work, pretty interesting!

Not gonna bother with deodex.. just flashing in su / busybox, and see how it goes...

Edit:  got kies script working too, it's even detecting Bell's test firmware!

ZSJPD / UGJK3 / BMCJK3

Well, sticking with this combo for now... Seems to be most stable... We'll see!

When CM6 has better support for Front Cam and GPS, I might flash back... I like my GPS pictures and video calling ><...

CM6?

Tried CM6 beta for SGS yesterday, their new beta was interesting. Really fast! But still not all that usable for me since I like the front facing camera working... Hmm...

Now to find a way to embed it...

Edit 1: Embedded to the left... also removed the friendconnect thing...

XWJPA

Looks like Samsung leaked another firmware.. now let's see what this can do on the I9000M as well!

Flashed from JP6... Looks good so far... Will edit in a few after pulling /deodexing.. maybe.

Edit 1: Sleepy. Will leave deodexer running on auto.

Edit 2: Deodexed, removed Swype since I don't use it.

Edit 3: Circle battery mod!

Deodexed

Tried deodexing XWJP6 today... Had some weird problem with one of the apks not deodexing right, so I just pulled /system/app and /system/framework from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703 and created my own update.zip and pushed it to the phone. Well, I also used the stock framework-res so I could add the circle battery mod, hopefully that works okay.

Wondering when the phone will die from XWJP6... :P

XWJP6

Got really tired of UGJH2, so decided to brave it and flash XWJP6 again. I still don't see how a firmware can "corrupt" an internal SD card, so going to assume my brother's theory of "having an external SD card messses with it". Let's see how well this works.

I didn't do a data wipe, so it had FCs today and wouldn't boot up. So I held down power till it reset and pulled battery on the start logo. Booted into recovery and wiped. Some settings stayed, like APN, which was odd. Anyways, still working fine since then. Decided against installing Skype for now though.

I think I'll deodex it later and add a battery mod... I'll probably stay with GlassLock/PuzzleLock instead of TapLock though. New Youtube app is good, and I really don't understand why the Video button was missing for Youtube on UGJH2. Oh well, let's see if it bricks.
